The national motto of France is Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité (Liberty, Equality, Brotherhood), yet non-Muslim French citizens are forbidden from entering “no-go zones” throughout France, where Sharia law rules and radicals recruit new followers openly.
When we came to Canada we formed communities mostly to feel comfortable and to lend each other support. This was done to give us time to acclimate to our new society…to blend in. As many new immigrants do, Muslim immigrants have formed communities in France, but with one exception. Often, they aren’t integrating into French society at all, like other immigrants, according to an interview on Fox & Friends Weekend Saturday with military veteran and journalist Nolan Peterson.
Peterson described his time inside a Paris no-go zone, one of approximately 750 in France:
“It was pretty scary. I’ve been to Afghanistan, Iraq, Kashmir, India, and at times it felt like..those places in the no-go zones.
“You see young men wearing Osama bin Laden T-shirts. In a hookah shop, I saw a speech by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was leading an insurgency against American troops in Iraq at the time. It just, it seemed very mainstream and very accepted.”
French no-go zones are sketched out on this map:
According to Peterson, the 5-million Muslims living in France, who account for 10 to 12 percent of the population, are ostracized by a French society which is reluctant “to integrate the…Muslims into mainstream society.” He is quick to point out, though:
“The divisions in France between the Muslims and the European French don’t cause the violence, but they do leave the Muslims very susceptible to be recruited into Islamist groups.”
And in these no-go zones, where basic services such as police, fire, or ambulance are unable to be provided:
“The efforts of Islamists like the Muslim Brotherhood or al-Qaeda to recruit off the streets of the no-go zones is not something that’s hidden in the shadows. It’s actually very open. It’s accepted. People just sort of go along and let this be the status quo.”
It’s mind-boggling that any sovereign nation would allow a group of people whose radicals espouse the idea of attempting to overthrow Western society to form basically autonomous enclaves within its borders. Unfortunately, this week’s events graphically illustrate the folly and danger of such a policy.
It is pretty sad when you think about it. These problems are pretty obvious but yet Western society continues to allow this because we tend to believe that on the whole Muslims can be good people and most are but the problem is the mass immigration of Muslims. It is too fast and to large. When people come into countries in large groups there are not enough reason for them to adapt. In my youth and up until the 80′s most of us hardly even knew Muslims were here in Canada. I had many Muslim friends. I even helped a couple open a restaurant because they were good hard working people. Religion and terrorism were something rarely heard. They were people who blended and worked within the society. Large groups work against integration and so the problems in all the countries where large groups are brought in is that they have less need to join and tend to stay with themselves. Without blending in to their new society the youth especially are especially vulnerable to radicalization and to trying to change their new country into their homeland. The absolutely silly thing is they are trying to bring the terrors they left behind to a new home that could give them a better life. A shame.
