I read an article about Bill Nye having a debate with Creationist Ken Ham, the founder of the Creation Museum. This museum teaches the most idiotic theory ever, that the earth is only 6,000 years old. Yup, that’s right, 6,000. These guys look at the Bible in strange ways. They try to take the Bible literally without putting any thought to it. The evidence is there, that the earth is millions of years old but these guys want to believe the words of writers who had a limited understanding of time. Even today our understanding of time is still limited but we have a better understanding then people thousands of years ago.
Sure, I believe the possibilities of the creation according to the Bible, but, we have to realize that if God did create the Universe, his time and our perception of time is not the same. A day for him would be a million years for us. This was covered in the Scopes monkey trials that led to the teaching of evolution in schools.
The problem with Creationists is that they want to have a god that runs everything for them so that they do not have to think. They are sheep who want to be herded along by a supreme being so they do not have to take responsibilities for their lives. So, for these people taking the Bible as literal fits their skewed agenda. It is a shame that they cannot really marvel at what God has created and the intricacies that He has created. The time that was put into the evolution of all He created is INCREDIBLE. Starting a small piece of the puzzle and watching it form into greater life is an amazing thing. Today we can see visually how an egg and a microscopic sperm create a life. We can see it slowly develop over time into a new life form. Why is it hard to believe that God would work the same way when creating the Universe. Why can they not believe in God’s real miracle? Like so many in the world they see things in limited scope and they always will. Too bad for them, they are missing the real greatness of the Creation.
