No say it isn’t so… I love the feel of cash in the pocket and in the wallet. It was at some point going to be inevitable damn it.

Did you know that 95 percent of all retail sales in Sweden are cashless? And did you know that the government of Denmark has a stated goal of “eradicating cash” by the year 2030? All over the world, we are seeing a relentless march toward a cashless society, and nowhere is this more true than in northern Europe. In Sweden, hundreds of bank branches no longer accept or dispense cash, and thousands of ATM machines have been permanently removed. At this point, bills and coins only account for just 2 percent of the Swedish economy, and many stores no longer take cash at all. The notion of a truly “cashless society” was once considered to be science fiction, but now we are being told that it is “inevitable”, and authorities insist that it will enable them to thwart criminals, terrorists, drug runners, money launderers and tax evaders. But what will we give up in the process?

This is really interesting so read on people. Chickens and dinosaurs…what do they have in common. Scientists from the University of Chile, the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago created the prosthetic tail. They studied chickens because they are distant descendants of T.Rex and the study reveals that the chickens with tails seemed to walk with more of a hip-driven movement, suggesting that perhaps therapod dinosaurs did too.

Tyrannosaurus Rex might be one of the best known dinosaurs, but scientists are still not exactly sure how the prehistoric giant walked.

And in a bid to find out, a group of researchers attached fake tails to chickens and analysed the way they walked.

While the idea might look more like a school project than a serious experiment, the scientists chose chickens because modern birds descend from a group of dinosaurs that includes the T-Rex.

Scientists from the University of Chile, the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago created prosthetic tails to simulate how a seven tonne T-Rex, which measured over 40ft long, would have walked.

Steven Bernstein writes that it would seem inarguable that one of the government’s basic responsibilities is to set standards ensuring that people in the United States have safe drinking water. So in May 2015 when the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its final version of the Clean Water Rule, “the agency cheered the broad reach of the rule, arguing that it would protect the drinking water of some 117 million Americans, or roughly a third of the population.”

But then along came Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), who promptly introduced a resolution to kill the EPA’s Clean Water Rule that was passed in November – ostensibly to protect “farmers and ranchers”, who coincidentally only comprise two percent of the population. Yesterday, the Republican-led House similarly voted 253-166 for a resolution to overturn the EPA ruling. President Barack Obama has, all-along, threatened to veto the resolutions should they pass Congress.

Women are not even safe swimming it seems. Officials in Bornheim say women have filed complaints “over the sexually offensive behaviour of some migrant men at the pool”.

A German town has banned male asylum seekers from a public swimming pool after women complained they were being sexually harassed.

Officials in Bornheim, 20 miles south of Cologne, said men at three nearby migrant centres would be barred until they got the message “the right of women in Germany is inviolable”.

They said six people had filed complaints “over the sexually offensive behaviour of some migrant men at the pool”.

Public distrust of asylum seekers has grown in the country after hundreds of women told police they were groped and robbed by mostly Arab and North African men during New Year’s festivities in Cologne.

Markus Schnapka, deputy mayor of Bornheim, said officials have launched a campaign to teach migrants about gender equality and respect for women.

He said male asylum seekers would be banned from the town’s pool until they “got the message”.

It could happen if the head of Russian Railways has his way.

According to a March 23 report in The Siberian Times, Russian Railways president Vladimir Yakunin has proposed a plan for a massive trans-Siberian highway that would link his country’s eastern border with the U.S. state of Alaska, crossing a narrow stretch of the Bering Sea that separates Asia and North America.

The scheme was unveiled at a meeting of the Moscow-based Russian Academy of Science.

Information sheet given to Syrian refugee shows seizure of assets of over 1,000 Swiss francs, says TV news programme. Yes the glow of giving the helping hand is quickly wearing off. I guess countries can only take so much before they have to get something in return.

Refugees arriving in Switzerland have to turn over to the state any assets worth more than 1,000 Swiss francs (£690) to help pay for their upkeep, the broadcaster SRF has reported.

SRF’s 10 vor 10 news programme showed a receipt a Syrian refugee said he received from authorities when he had to turn over more than half the cash his family had left after paying traffickers to help them get to the neutral Alpine country.

The parents of 15 year old Lithuanian boy Arminas Pileckas have blasted Sweden and the Swedish media for cowardice in the face of the migrant threat, and for covering up the murder of their son.

Arminas Pileckas, a native of northern European state Lithuania was living in Sweden with his parents when he was brutally murdered on Monday by an “Arab” — reportedly Syrian — migrant classmate.

It is reported that Arminas intervened to protect a female school-mate from being sexually assaulted in December, only to have the Syrian he defended her from stab him in the back and through the heart on the first day of the next term.

Abdi Hersy is an Imam at Abu Bakr Musallah in Calgary, Alberta and a prominent voice in Calgary’s Somali community.

Addressing his congregation last year, Abdi Hersy strongly condemned the Islamic State (a.k.a IS, ISIS, ISIL, the Caliphate) and argued that joining the jihad in Syria and Iraq has no valid Islamic justification nor it has been approved by any of the Muslim scholars.

Abdi Hersy thinks that the best course for Muslims in Canada is doing Dawah, meaning propagating and spreading Islam by spurring Muslims to practice Islam and by introducing Islam to unbelievers in an effort to convince them to convert to Islam.

A bid to ban child marriage in Pakistan utterly failed, after the Council of Islamic Ideology declared the legislation “anti-Islamic” and “blasphemous.”

The bill didn’t even move past the first stage in the legislative process, The Express Tribune reports. It was almost immediately pulled Thursday by Pakistan Muslim League party’s Marvi Menon following condemnation from CII, whose job it is to advise the legislature on whether bills are compliant with Sharia law. In this case, the bill clearly violated Islamic law as tradition holds marriage as acceptable when a girl hits puberty.

You know if you want to be fair to everyone when someone commits a crime like this you have to get out all the information. When news outlets hide this type of thing it only makes it worse for good Muslims because it seems that the press are making them a special protected class. This is a bad move because it gives the impression that the press or government is hiding things from the populous and that will make citizens much more nervous and prejudicial towards those they are trying to protect. A bad person is a bad person and it should be broadcast because bad, sick a-holes like this guy deserve to be known by the public not because of race or religion but because the are a-holes who got caught doing despicable things. Sometimes I read some crap out there that shows how ignorant and disgusting some business’ can be in their greed. This company actually had argued it shouldn’t have to pay employees during short breaks, but the U.S. Department of Labour disagreed.

A Pennsylvania company that publishes business newsletters will pay about $1.75 million (U.S.) to thousands of employees who had to clock out while going on short breaks, including for the bathroom.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that a federal judge has given the U.S. Department of Labor and the Malvern-based company, American Future Systems Inc., until Thursday to submit proposals on managing payment.

The company had argued that it wasn’t required to pay employees for short breaks.

The bill includes back pay and damages to 6,000 employees at offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio between 2009 and 2013.

The Department of Labor filed a lawsuit in 2012 claiming the company violated the federal Fair Labor Standards Act because employees weren’t earning minimum wage when the company required them to clock out for breaks.

Wearing black jackets adorned with a symbol of a Viking and the Finnish flag, the “Soldiers of Odin” have surfaced as self-proclaimed patriots patrolling the streets to protect native Finns from immigrants, worrying the government and police.

On the northern fringes of Europe, Finland has little history of welcoming large numbers of refugees, unlike neighbouring Sweden. But as with other European countries, it is now struggling with a huge increase in asylum seekers and the authorities are wary of any anti-immigrant vigilantism.

A group of young men founded Soldiers of Odin, named after a Norse god, late last year in the northern town of Kemi. This lies near the border community of Tornio, which has become an entry point for migrants arriving from Sweden.

Since then the group has expanded to other towns, with members stating they want to serve as eyes and ears for the police who they say are struggling to fulfil their duties.

Members blame “Islamist intruders” for what they believe is an increase in crime and they have carried placards at demonstrations with slogans such as “Migrants not welcome”.

While most Finns disapprove of the group, its growth signals disquiet in a country strained by the cost of receiving the asylum seekers while mired in a three-year-old recession that has forced state spending and welfare cuts.

Gangs of young men harassed girls at a youth festival in Stockholm, but police covered it up because many of the boys were migrants.

Now an investigation is underway to find out why the concealment happened.
