We must report the passing of actor Robert Hegyes. Best known for playing Juan Epstein, the Jewish Puerto Rican student always ready with an excuse note “signed Epstein’s mother” on the 1970s TV show Welcome Back Kotter.

A regular on Cagney & Lacey and guest star on other shows, Hegyes reportedly died of a heart attack. He was 60.
