Hollywood's desire to reboot franchises continues with three movie properties about to get new incarnations.

Fox Animation have hired Christian Magalhaes & Bob Snow ("Murder of a Cat") to write an animated modern day twist on "King Kong" and will tell the story from the vantage point of the ape says Deadline.

Shawn Levy's 21 Laps and Ted Field's Radar Pictures will produce along with Mike Weber.

Meanwhile with MGM now freed from its massive debt, their previously talked about plans to restart the "Poltergeist" franchise have taken the next step with playwright turned screenwriter David Lindsay-Abaire ("Rabbit Hole") offered the job of penning the script reports Vulture.

MGM reportedly has no creative parameters, allowing Lindsay-Abaire to shape the film in whatever fashion he chooses should he want the job.

Finally, Moviehole reports that Universal Pictures proposed sequel to Joe Johnston’s disastrous 2009 "The Wolfman" has now been reworked to be an original film.

Michael Tabb’s script is being rewritten and reworked into a film that shares more of a connection to the original George Waggner 1941 film than the remake.

The film will use a completely different title and directors will be met with in coming weeks ahead of a planned production start later this year.
